Waynewood Dolphins 2020 Summer Lap Swim Program
Hello Dolphin Families!
We have been working with the WRA Board and Coach Dylan, and are thrilled to announce that the WRA Board has approved our proposal for an exciting alternative to our typical swim team summer. We can finally return to the water!
We have developed a Dolphins Lap Swim Program. We hope your swimmers will find fun and beneficial. We will have lanes available for Dolphins swimmers beginning Wednesday, July 1- Friday, July 24 (no weekend sessions). Any swimmer registered to our competitive team during the 2019 Summer is eligible for this summer's lap swim fitness program. If your swimmer was a Little Dolphin in 2019, we, unfortunately, are unable to offer a spot. We can make no exceptions.
Registration will be open TODAY, June 19 thru Friday, June 26, 2020 -
WAYNEWOOD DOLPHINS LAP SWIM PROGRAM
Depending on the number of interested participants, we propose to host 30-45 minute sessions between 7:30am-10am, Monday thru Friday, with a 30-minute cleaning and disinfection period between sessions. The number of days per week for your swimmer, practice session duration, and lane assignments will be communicated prior to the first day. Coach Dylan will run all practice sessions. Team Reps Jenny Morris and Coleen Mortimer will be on deck for all sessions to assist with check-in and to monitor social distancing and safety compliance. Two (2) lifeguards (1 posted at the lap pool and 1 posted at the main pool) will be present for all practice sessions.
In order to safely and effectively run this program, all participants must agree to the following:
- All registered swimmers must present a health waiver at EACH practice session
- Check-in will be by the gate on the left of the building; Swimmers must maintain social distancing while in line
- Swimmers must wear a face covering when entering and exiting the facility
- Athletes must arrive in swimsuits; Swimmers are to shower at home prior to coming to their session
- Restrooms and showers will be closed; Family bathroom will be reserved for emergencies only
- All personal belongings must be placed in designated laundry baskets at the end of each lane
- No equipment will be provided by the Dolphins team; Swimmers are encouraged to bring fins, cap, goggles and kickboard
- No food or drink allowed; Water bottles are permitted
- To comply with WRA health and safety measures and recommended social distancing guidelines, athletes will be allowed to line up for entry 5 minutes prior the start of their session
- Athletes must leave the WRA immediately upon completion of their assigned lap swim session through the gate by the tennis courts
- Parents/spectators will not be allowed on the pool deck and may not congregate outside the front entrance of the WRA; please remain in your car in the parking lot or stage in the grassy area
- There will be no more than 2 swimmers per lane starting from opposite ends of the pool
- Cost to register is $30 per swimmer (non-refundable)
We realize and regret that this lap swim fitness program will not work for everyone. We have tried to accommodate the largest number of athletes possible while adhering to federal, state, and local government guidelines and mandates, and most importantly, WRA policy for Summer 2020. We highly encourage you to reserve time through the WRA system for lap swim time for your family.
Despite the limitations of the 2020 summer season, we strive to be as inclusive as possible. While the lap swim program is reserved for registered swimmers only, we are planning several team building events that will not require registration and will be open to Dolphin swimmers of all ages and their families. Stay tuned.
