Waynewood Dolphins Weekend Reminders
June 12, 2021
A BIG THANK YOU to all of our flexible volunteers, spectators and swimmers who rolled with our new 2021 arrangements. Aside from the chilly start, most things seemed to work very well! We do have one important point we want to emphasize ahead of Monday’s B meet and for the future:
Masks are required for all unvaccinated and swimmers 11 and under. These swimmers will not be allowed on deck to swim if not masked.
In this message:
1. Monday B Meet Details
2. Indicate swimmers availability for our Saturday, June 19, A meet by 11pm, Monday, June 14!
3. A Meet Concessions Lead(s) Needed!
4. National Anthem Singers- Deadline Sunday Night
5. Time Trials Results!
1. Home B Meet Details for Monday, June 14 WW v. Mount Vernon Park
- If you have already signed up, please ensure that you have only selected two strokes per swimmer plus IM. We have noticed that some swimmers are signed up for 3 strokes. If this remains the case, our data coordinators will have to select which stroke to cancel.
- If you have not signed up yet, please do so before the deadline at noon Sunday.
Click here for the meet sign up & please also visit the volunteer sign up! We still need about 18 volunteers in a variety of positions.
Swimmers should arrive at 4:45pm. Warm-ups begin promptly at 5:00pm.
Please note: Swimmers and spectators should bring their own chairs and/or blankets.
We ask that our families walk, bike or park considerately on our neighborhood streets for the meet. We always ensure that we leave our parking lot open for the visiting team!
The meet starts at 6pm.
2. Indicate Availability for the Sat, June 19, Home A meet by 11pm Mon, June 14!
For A meets, we need everyone to tell us if they are or are not available for the meet so that we have a true picture of the pool of swimmers to choose from. All non-Little Dolphin Swimmers should indicate their availability for Saturday morning A meets. Do not assume that your child will not be selected! It takes a lot of swimmers to fill the lanes! Click here and go to the A meet v. Villa Aquatic.
3. A Meet Concessions Lead(s) Needed
This is our only Lead Vacancy left for the season. Please contact the Team Reps to say Yes to this position and support our Dolphin Family.
4. National Anthem Singers and Musicians!
Our Team Reps have received a couple submissions, but are still looking for more swimmers or groups of swimmers to sing or play the National Anthem on their instrument(s) at each of our Home events this season. Dates needed:
A meet v. Villa Aquatic – Saturday, 6/19 – 9am
B meet v. Hollin Meadows – Monday, 6/21 – 6pm
A meet v. Ravensworth Farm – Saturday, 6/26 – 9am
A meet v. Lakevale Estates- Saturday, 7/10 - 9am
Dolphin Duel –Thursday, 7/22 – 6pm
If you are interested, please send your contact information, an audition recording, and your available dates to our Team Reps by 9pm, Sunday June 13th.
5. Time Trials Results!
We hope you and your swimmer had a great experience at Time Trials. The swimmers did great and we thank all our volunteers!
If your swimmers are looking for ribbons, please remind them that we don’t do ribbons for Time Trials—their first ribbons will be earned on Monday night at the B meet!
Our Data Coordinator, Katie Wolf, already has the ladder from yesterday's Time Trials posted on Swimtopia! Click here and you will see a green link right below the Time Trials label. These are the results for everyone who swam (each age group in each stroke). Girls are listed first in age group order, and then the boys. An updated ladder will be released after each B meet—the Coaches use this ladder for seeding A meets.
If you just want to see your swimmer's times without wading through the ladder, click on "My Account" at the top right-hand corner of the page and select the swimmer you want to look at, scroll down and -- Voila! Click on each stroke to see a history of times.
Pretty cool, huh?! Show your swimmer how fast they are! If they are sensitive to where they are in comparison to other kids, just show them their individual times and challenge them to outdo themselves next time! Or ignore the times--praise their stroke improvement, endurance, sportsmanship, & friend-making skills!
Questions? Please don’t hesitate to contact our Team Reps, Tom and Frederick, at [email protected] .
Go Dolphins! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
