Waynewood Dolphins Midweek Message - June 24, 2021
Waynewood Dolphins Midweek Message!
June 24, 2021
As a Team, the Dolphins have dropped 15 minutes and 41 seconds so far this season!!!
1. Volunteer Shift Good News/Mishap News. Volunteer Shifts for the next 2 Away Meets are now open to all Dolphin Volunteers! Unfortunately, in the process, the wonderfully full slate of volunteers for this Saturday's A meet was wiped clean. With wonderful team effort, some of the list has been quickly reconstituted, but if you signed up for a shift at the Tables, Marshal or Clerk of Course please reenter your sign up ASAP.
As for the new Volunteer Shifts...Grab a spot or two! Is your favorite job filled already? Try something new! We need to fill all our shifts to run our meets smoothly for the swimmers.

2. Ribbons from the recent A & B meets can be found in the family folders! These can be found on the lower shelf to the left of the guard desk in the entrance of the pool house. Come and get ‘em!
3. Waynewood 4th of July Plans! Yesterday, June 23, was the last day to submit preorders for the annual Independence Day T-Shirt. But as of this writing, the link is still active! The WRA will have a limited number of shirts for sale on the 4th of July. The cost is $10, you can visit the Storefront to place your preorder.
The Dolphins will be marching in the parade as usual. On July 4th we’ll meet at Waynewood Elementary School at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am parade start. Wear your Team Shirt and accessorize yourself with plenty of Independence Day bling.
The WRA also needs many volunteers to help make this wonderful community tradition happen. Teens can also volunteer for an appropriate activity and earn service hours. Please visit the SignUp and volunteer at least an hour of your time during this fun day.
4. The Next B Meet is Monday 6/28 is our first AWAY meet. It will take place at nearby Riverside Gardens pool at 8633 Buckboard Dr. It’s not too early to sign up to swim! Remember, everyone (except Little Dolphins) is allowed 2 strokes plus IM. Parents of 10 & Unders should check Coach Dylan’s List to confirm whether their swimmer eligible to swim breaststroke, butterfly or IM before signing up.
.
5. Remaining Events for the Week
Thursday, June 24th
- Teen Night – Tie Dye Tailgate – 6:30pm
Sometimes they are creative. Sometimes they are competitive. On Thursday night they will be both! The teens are meeting up at the pool to make tie dye creations and to play some tailgating games such as Corn Hole and Kan Jam. They’ll also have a potluck dinner.
More food is needed! Teens should remember to sign up to indicate what food they are bringing here. Also, they’ll need to bring their own T-shirts to be tie dyed at the tailgate!
IMPORTANT: Participants must be registered Waynewood Dolphin swimmers and be 13 or above on the date of the teen night to attend. Please respect that no exceptions will be made.
Friday, June 25th
- Pep Rally – “Spirit Shakers” – 6p.m.
Dolphins of all ages will meet on Friday evening to make Spirit Shakers, paint a banner, and “chalk the walk” with fun Dolphin messages. Coach Dylan asks that swimmers bring a disposable plastic container (preferably with a top/lid) that can be filled and decorated. And, as is tradition, there will be cheers and the announcement of the week’s practice monsters ....don't miss it!
Saturday, June 26th
- Home A Meet - Waynewood v. Ravensworth - 9am
Swimmers will be notified no later than Thursday if they are participating in this meet. We will be sending out a list to confirm. Those swimming in the meet will need to arrive at 7:45am on Saturday morning for the 8am warm-up. The meet starts at 9am.
Parents, please remember to leave our parking lot open for our visitors on Saturday morning. If you live close, walk or bike. If you choose to drive, please park legally and considerately on our neighborhood streets.
