1. A Meet Details, Saturday, July 3 at Pinecrest 9am – Warm up at 8:25am
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! We have 9 open shifts! Signup here to fill them up!
It’s our first Away A meet! And it’s going to be another good one. We need everyone to swim fast! It will be held at 12515 Pinecrest Rd, Herndon, VA 20171. We will meet up in the Waynewood pool parking lot at 7:00 am to take attendance, decorate cars and caravan in true Dolphin style!! Pinecrest pool is located at 12515 Pinecrest Rd, Herndon, VA 20171 If you choose to drive separately, you are required to email our Team Reps ahead of time. Please remember to do this, we do not want to be calling people at 7am to locate or replace swimmers!
Please keep a weather-eye! Thunderstorms are possible, but also our Team area will be a sunny spot. Be prepared for all circumstances!
Stay tuned --there may be an option for a Team Lunch afterward!
2. Details for the Monday, July 5 B Meet at Hayfield Farm – 6pm – Warm ups 5:25pm

Our next B meet will be at Hayfield Farm Pool at 7820 Hayfield Rd, Alexandria, VA 22315. Our hosts are starting the meet with Individual Medleys (IMs) before moving on to the other strokes. They have asked all IM swimmers to choose only one additional stroke to swim at the meet. This will hopefully allow the meet to conclude before dark. Please remember to factor in the rush hour drive and arrive by 5:10pm. Sign up before Sunday at 11am!
3. Availability for Next Week’s Division Relay Carnival - Wednesday - July 7 at Villa Aquatic!
Each of the 6 Teams in our Division will field 2 relay teams (one freestyle and one medley) for each age & gender group. For example, the 8 & Under girls will field a 100 meter freestyle relay AND a 100 meter medley relay. Therefore, even if your swimmer hasn’t been in a relay up until now, they may find themselves in one for this meet. Make sure that you have marked your swimmer available if they want to be considered for this meet. Deadline for Availability is Monday, July 5 at 11pm
4. Events for the Week
Thursday, July 1st
- Teen Night – Game Show Night! – 6:30pm
Our teens will join Game Show host, Wayne Wood and his side kick Dolph N. Wheelaround for a Game Show Night with minute-to-win-it style challenges. Meet at 6:30pm in front of the pool house. Let the game begin!
IMPORTANT: Participants must be registered Waynewood Dolphin swimmers and be 13 or above on the date of the teen night to attend. Please respect that no exceptions will be made.
Friday, July 2nd
- Pep Rally – “Can-struction” – 6p.m.
It’s a pep rally, it’s a food drive, it’s art! It’s also a boys v. girls competition! Start bringing canned goods, and other non-perishables to donate to UCM up to the pool during practices this week. At the pep rally our boys and girls teams will use them as building materials. May the most creative and charitable team win! And, as is tradition, there will be cheers and the announcement of the week’s practice monsters ....don't miss it!
Saturday, July 3rd
- Away A Meet - Waynewood v. Pinecrest - 9am – Warm up at 8:20
Swimmers will be notified no later than Thursday if they are participating in this meet.
We will meet up in the Waynewood pool parking lot at 7:00 am to take attendance decorate cars and caravan in true Dolphin style!! Sunday, July 4th
- Waynewood Independence Day Parade
The Dolphins will be marching in the parade as usual. On July 4th we’ll meet at Waynewood Elementary School at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am parade start. Wear your Team Shirt and accessorize yourself with plenty of Independence Day bling.
The WRA also needs many volunteers to help make this wonderful community tradition happen. Teens can also volunteer for an appropriate activity and earn service hours. Please visit the Sign Up and volunteer at least an hour of your time during this fun day.
