1.Have you Fulfilled Your Volunteer Commitment?

In a perfect Dolphin World, swim parents would fill all the shifts we need to run a meet 24 hours before the swimmers come on deck. Sadly, we have a lot of open slots at tomorrow’s B Meet at Hayfield—and we still have more meets coming up. All families, including Little Dolphins are required to work at least 4 Volunteer Shifts over the course of the season. For families who have multiple swimmers or swimmers who participate in A meets and other additional meets more is expected.

    • Check your shifts on Swimtopia by clicking on your name in the upper right hand corner and selecting “My Account.”
    • If you can see it, we can see it. Don’t wait to be emailed to do your share.
    • Remaining A and B meets will open at 7pm on Tuesday. Let’s fill them up!

    2. Volunteers Needed for the Monday’s B Meet.

Thank you to the volunteers who have signed up! We need a bunch more: 2 Clerks, and 4 Table Workers.  Please be kind to our Team Reps and don’t make them do the additional work of calling you personally to fill these spots. Click here to fill these shifts!

    3. Last Call for Relay Carnival (July 7) and A Meet (July 10) Availability

You have until 11pm Monday Night to ensure that your swimmer can be considered for these meets—Don’t wait, click here!

    4. Celebrating our Seniors

As a highlight of our last Home A meet on Saturday, we will be celebrating our graduating Seniors in the break before relays. (approximately 10:45-11am--tissues optional). We have 6 wonderful Seniors this year. Wait till you hear about their accomplishments in and out of the pool! We hope you’ll join us in wishing them well on Saturday.

    5. Events for the Week

    Monday, June 5th – B Meet at Hayfield Farms 6pm Warm-ups at 5:25pm

    • Normal Morning Practice
    • No Afternoon Practice

This week’s B meet will be at Hayfield Farm Pool at 7820 Hayfield Rd, Alexandria, VA 22315. Our hosts are starting the meet with Individual Medleys (IMs) before moving on to the other strokes. They have asked all IM swimmers to choose only one additional stroke to swim at the meet. This will hopefully allow the meet to conclude before dark. Please remember to factor in the rush hour drive and arrive by 5:10pm.

Wednesday, June 7th – Division 7 Relay Carnival at Villa Aquatic – 6:30pm

    • Villa Aquatic is located at 4299 Andes Dr, Fairfax, VA 22030. Swimmer drop off will be located outside the pool entrance and the pool lot will be closed to general traffic. Meet participants will need to find street parking and may experience a significant walk to the pool--the host pool recommends seeking parking on Andes Dr.  Please consider carpooling.
    • Each of the 6 Teams in our Division will field a freestyle relay and a medley relay for each age & gender group. Therefore, even if your swimmer hasn’t been in a relay up until now, they may find themselves in one for this meet. Make sure that you have indicated your Swimmers’ availability by 11p.m. on Monday!
    • Swimmers will be notified on Tuesday if they are swimming in this meet.
    • The Waynewood team warm-up is 5:50pm-6:10pm. Swimmers should arrive NO LATER THAN 5:30pm. Please factor in Rush Hour Traffic.
    • More details will follow including the weather plan that we hope we don’t have to use!

    Thursday, July 8th

    • Teen Night – Book Hunt – 6:30pm

The Teens will meet up at the pool to divide into teams for a book hunt that will span the neighborhood and challenge their minds and bodies!

IMPORTANT: Participants must be registered Waynewood Dolphin swimmers and be 13 or above on the date of the teen night to attend. Please respect that no exceptions will be made.

    Friday, July 9th

    • Pep Rally – “TBD” – 6p.m.

Coach Dylan is working on a plan for the Pep Rally on Friday.  We will share the details later in the week.  You can be sure though that there will be cheers and the announcement of the week’s practice monsters ....don't miss it!

    Saturday, July 10th

    • A Meet – Lakevale Estates @Waynewood - 9am

Make sure that you have indicated your Swimmers’ availability or non-availability by 11pm on Monday.

We’re back at home—you remember the drill:

    • Swimmers will be notified no later than Thursday if they are participating in this meet.
    • ALL Swimmers should be up at the pool at 7:50am to Warm up at 8am. The meet starts at 9:00am.
    • Leave our parking lot empty for our guests.
    • We’ll be honoring our Seniors during the relay break (approximately 10:45-11am)! Don’t miss it!
