Dolphin End-of-Season Meets - Summer 2021
Dolphin End-of-Season Meets - Summer 2021
There are 3 very important meets coming up a little more than a week from now that mark the end of our swimming season: The Little Dolphins Mini-Meet, The Dolphin Duel and Divisionals.
- ALL Our swimmers will be eligible to swim in one, and only one, of these meets. We have included a description of each with info about signing up. Of course, more details will be forthcoming. These meets may be slightly different this year. We will try to highlight these changes as they become clear.
- We will need Volunteers to support both the Dolphin Duel and the Divisionals meet. These are both fun events that require a lot of manpower from our volunteers. The Dolphin Duel provides a great opportunity for Little Dolphins parents and others who may not have fulfilled their 4 shifts yet to contribute to the team and wrap up their obligation. Thank you for keeping your eyes open and filling these critical spots when they come open!
Little Dolphins Mini Meet
Wednesday, July 21st - 9am at Home
- All Little Dolphins will be able to swim in this meet. There are no stroke and turn judges for this meet (and therefore no disqualifications!) It’s a very positive atmosphere for our youngest swimmers. Our older swimmers participate by helping adults set up and run the meet and by cheering on their teammates.
- There is no sign up for this meet. We are assuming that all the Little Dolphins will swim freestyle and backstroke. We will make time cards for all of them. If they don’t want to swim a stroke that’s fine. This is all about the fun! Swimmers will have a very short warm-up and the meet will start at 9:00am.
The Dolphin Duel
Thursday, July 22nd – 6pm at Home
- The Dolphin Duel will only be open to 14 & Under swimmers on our team who are not participating in Divisionals. It will be a very spirited event with lots of cheering, swimming and fun. Each swimmer can swim two events. There is no IM, but there is a humongous relay at the end that all participants will compete in. Please Sign up for your two strokes by Tuesday, July 20th at 8pm.
Division 7 Individual Championships (Divisionals)
Saturday, July 24th – 9am
at Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet (SHBR)
- This is a Division-wide meet where the fastest 2 swimmers from each team in each stroke for each age and gender come together (e.g. each team gets to enter two 8 & Under boys backstrokers). Each swimmer is only allowed to choose 2 strokes to swim in this meet. Individual Medley’s (IMs) are included in this meet and IM DOES count as one of a swimmer's 2 choices. 8 & Under swimmers do not swim IM. There are no relays.
- If your swimmer wants to be considered for this meet, they should indicate availability on the Swimtopia site ASAP. The coaches will begin asking swimmers after the July 17th A meet for their decisions on what they want to swim at Divisionals. They start with the swimmers at the top of the ladder for each age group. Depending on the selections of the 2 fastest swimmers on the ladder (and absences), some swimmers further down on the ladder may be eligible to swim. Coaches will need a final decision no later than 11pm on Monday, July 19th. If it helps with your swimmers' decision making, the order of Divisionals (and therefore All Stars) for 2021 is Back, Breast, Fly, IM and Free If you are in doubt as to whether your swimmer will be eligible to swim in this meet, go ahead and sign them up for the Dolphin Duel. If they make it into Divisionals they will be scratched from the Dolphin Duel.
Questions? As always, please feel free to contact Frederick & Tom via email with questions regarding these meets or any other issues.
Go Dolphins!
