Everything You Need to Know for Divisionals

Everything You Need to Know for Divisionals

Saturday, July 24, 2021 - Meet starts at 8:30am @ Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet

    Weather:

The forecast for Saturday looks nice! But just in case, there is an attached weather statement from NVSL. Always assume the meet is on until you get word otherwise.

    Divisional T-shirts:

The Preordered Dolphins Divisionals Team T-shirts are being handed out at Divisionals practices Today. If your swimmer is not there, please see the Coaches at the meet to pick up your T-shirt. Katie Mead has arranged another run of these T-shirts for our alternates and anyone else who might have missed out on the first go round click here to purchase by Monday at Noon!

There is an official Division 7 T-shirt that will be available in limited numbers at the meet. Plan to get to the meet early if you are interested in those.

    Volunteers:

Thank you to our volunteers working the meet. Please remember that timers and other officials need to wear white top and blue bottoms with no Waynewood logos on them.

    Parking & Team Areas:

The Parking Lot is permit only. Swimmers should bring their own chairs and look for the Blue Waynewood Dolphins Tent to locate our Team Area around the Recreation Pool. A coaching/cheering section will be set up near competiton pool.

    Warm-ups:

Our Waynewood Warm-up time is 7:50-8:10am. Expect a long walk from parking and arrive by 7:30am if you'd like to participate in the team warm-up.  There will also be a short warm-up between each stroke and during the break between the 1st half (Back, Breast, Fly) the 2nd half (IM & Free) of the meet. See the attached Timeline for more details.

Meet Timeline with No Sooner than Times.

Attached is the meet timeline. If your Dolphin(s), are swimming later in the day, they are welcome to arrive later, Just make sure that you leave a cushion to get them up to the pool, filter through the crowd to the Team Area and then to the Clerk-of-Course. Officials and volunteers will be striving to run a very efficient, fast meet. Make sure that your swimmer is at the pool well ahead of the beginning of the “no sooner than” time.

The Meet Program (aka Meet Sheet) is attached:

Please print it or save a tree and view it on your phone.

    Alternates:

A second, longer Meet Sheet is attached.  This has the official alternate list for each event.  It is slightly out of date in that each swimmer can only swim 2 events at the meet and some of the alternates listed were already bid in for a 2nd event.  What is the likelihood of an alternate being able to swim in a race at divisionals? To be honest. Very slim. Clerks sometimes only seat one alternate during the entire Divisionals meet--sometimes none. But it does happen. We don’t advise that alternates travel to the away meet, but if you are already planning to be there (or want to arrive early or stay late), all you have to do is stop by the Clerk of Course with your suit on and ready to swim at the time the event is called and tell them you are an alternate. If the stars align, you may have a lane in the meet.
