1. Today’s B Meet—Hayfield Farm @ Waynewood
Our next B Meet is TODAY at 6 p.m. against the Hayfield Farm Seahawks. The meet will take place at Waynewood.
Swimmers need to arrive by 4:45 p.m. for warm-ups at 5 p.m. The meet will proceed in standard order: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and individual medley.
We still have some critical volunteer shifts unfilled for the meet, so please consider volunteering. Sign up here.
For concessions, we’ll be selling pizza and snacks. If you’re looking for more this evening, you may need to make plans.
2. Monday’s Independence Day Parade
Celebrate the Independence Day holiday as part of a Waynewood tradition. Dolphins swimmers are invited to march in the Waynewood Independence Day Parade.
Meet at Waynewood Elementary School at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. parade start. Wear your team T-shirt and accessorize yourself with plenty of Independence Day bling.
Reminder: On July 4, there will be no Dolphins or Little Dolphins practices.
3. Results From A Meet vs. Canterbury Woods
The Dolphins faced the Canterbury Woods C-Serpents on Saturday in Annandale. The C-Serpents won, 229-187.
- You can find the full results here and the updated individual top times here.
- Congrats to our five winning relay teams:
- Luke Morris, Andrew Stolarz, Beau Gibson, and Nicolas Poyac-Clarkin won the 11-12 Boys 100M Relay with a time of 1:16.52.

- Team results and league standings can be viewed at NVSL’s website. You can look up friends from other teams and see how you stack up against other swimmers in our division and in all of the Northern Virginia Swim League.
- Most important and exciting, Coach Dylan reports the Dolphins have now dropped over 19 minutes of time and are well on their way to their goal of dropping 25 minutes.
4. Wednesday’s Division 7 Relay Carnival @ Waynewood
Waynewood is the host of this year’s NVSL Division 7 Relay Carnival—a fun event featuring our division rivals.
Make sure that you have indicated your swimmers’ availability or non-availability by 11 p.m. TODAY. Swimmers will be notified no later than Tuesday if they are participating in this meet.
Selection for Relay Carnival is a lot like an A Meet but with slightly different criteria for selection that could mean inclusion for a few swimmers who don't usually make A Meets. As the name suggests, this is an all-relay meet with six teams competing against each other for a trophy.
We'll also need an unusual mix of volunteers. Sign up here.
Due to the Relay Carnival event, there will be NO PM PRACTICE FOR DOLPHINS OR LITTLE DOLPHINS.
5. Saturday’s A Meet—Waynewood @ Lakevale Estates
It’s the Waynewood Dolphins vs. the Lakevale Estates Dolphins. What could be better than an all-Dolphins meet! Lakevale Estates is the Division 7 leader with a 3-0 record, so our Dolphins will need to bring their best.
Make sure you have indicated each swimmer’s availability or non-availability by 11 p.m. Monday for this meet. Swimmers will be notified no later than Thursday if they are participating in this meet.
Lakevale Estates’ pool is located at 2554 Oak Valley Dr, Vienna, VA 22181.
For those who are swimming, plan to meet in the Waynewood pool parking lot at 7:15 a.m. to take attendance and caravan in true Dolphin style! If you choose to drive separately, you are required to email our Team Reps ahead of time. Please remember to do this, we do not want to be calling people worried about replacing swimmers early in the morning.
6. Next Volunteer Slots Open Thursday & New Policy
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers! You came through again Saturday to fill some key roles. We’re grateful for your service.
Our current priority for volunteer sign-ups is Relay Carnival. Sign up here.
We remind all families, including Little Dolphins, that you agreed to the following service requirement when registering swimmers:
[E]ach family MUST sign up to volunteer to work at least 4 shifts if you have only one swimmer (or 2 if only swimmer is a Little Dolphin) at meets and/or social events throughout the season. Parents with multiple swimmers, or swimmers who swim in both A and B meets, are expected to work a minimum of 2 additional shifts for each swimmer.
A family with three swimmers (who don’t swim at A Meets) needs to work a minimum of 8 shifts.
- Check your shifts on Swimtopia by clicking on your name in the upper right hand corner and selecting “My Account.”
- If you can see it, we can see it. Don’t wait to be emailed to do your share.
We’ll open sign-ups at 8 p.m. Thursday for Saturday’s away A Meet at Lakevale Estates and the following Monday’s away B Meet against Mansion House. We need to fill all our shifts to run our meets smoothly for the swimmers. Sign up here.
NEW VOLUNTEER POLICY: We’re also announcing a new policy related to our volunteer service requirement. Swimmers from families in good standing in meeting volunteer requirements will be given priority going forward for limited slots to IM invitational, Fort Hunt Sportsman Relays (2023), and our Winter Swim program over those from families not meeting obligations. We may expand this policy in the future to other events and opportunities. Team Reps are open to discuss hardship situations we may not be aware of in meeting obligations, but these need to be brought forward before an opportunity is denied—not knowing the volunteer policy is not a valid excuse.
7. T-shirts for Divisionals Now Available to Order
It’s time to order your T-shirt for the Division 7 Individual Championship Meet on July 23! Due to supply chain issues, the vendor is requiring two weeks to process pre-event orders. Therefore, the cutoff date for pre-orders is July 8.
Click here to place your order today.
Families can go to the store directly and place their orders. The orders will be distributed to the Team Reps on the day of the event.
Not all swimmers may know if they are in Divisionals by this date and that even if they do, it is still far out from the meet itself. In order to accommodate that situation, meet host Fairfax Station will reopen the online store for additional orders that will be mailed directly to the swimmer's home.
8. Teen Night—Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The specifics are still being worked out, so stay tuned for more information.
9. Pep Rally—Friday at 6 p.m.
Coach Dylan is working on a plan for the pep rally on Friday. We will share the details later in the week. You can be sure though that there will be cheers and the announcement of the week’s practice monsters—don't miss it!
