Dolphins Swim Team Winter Update
2024 Dolphins Winter Update
Greetings Dolphins Families!
We
hope you had an excellent holiday season. Even though we still have
quite a few months until summer swim starts, we wanted to introduce
ourselves and also share some important dates for the 2024 swim season. We
are excited to begin our new role as the Waynewood Dolphins (WWD) Team
Reps. Our children started as Little Dolphins and 8 & unders (they
are now teens!), and we've humbly witnessed them grow as swimmers and
athletes -- largely due to the swim team that this community has built.
We are excited to volunteer our time to make this a great season for
everyone!
Key Dates
We'd also like to share some key dates with you all for planning purposes, although some may be subject to change:
- Second half of March: WWD coach applications open
- Second half of April: WWD summer registration open
- Sunday, May 5: Super Sunday (where you can purchase swimsuits, meet the coaches, and chat with the Team Reps)
- Tuesday, May 28: First day of after-school (PM) practice
- Saturday, June 8: Time Trials
- Monday, June 10: First B Meet
- Thursday, June 13: First day of both AM and PM practices
- Saturday, June 15: First A Meet

NVSL has limited additional scheduling information available here.
Call for Volunteer Leads
James
Connally and Genna Dahlberg are starting their first season as Team
Reps (please be patient with us!), and the Dolphins need additional
volunteers to step up. Please consider reaching out to the team reps ([email protected])
to learn more about possibly serving in a lead volunteer position. It’s
an incredibly rewarding experience where you’ll learn more about
swimming, meet your neighbors, and help your kids and their friends in a
way that they will never forget!
Prep for Summer
If your swimmer is looking to boost swim skills and competitiveness before the summer season begins, consider a summer prep program with the Potomac Marlins or another local club. These programs will give an experienced swimmer a boost, and it's also an opportunity to try out a swimming club without making a full-year commitment. If you’re interested, let the team reps know ([email protected]), and we can point you in the right direction.
Separately, our Waynewood Dolphins winter swim program is currently at capacity. However, we do maintain a waitlist. To get on it, email our Winter Swim Team Reps ([email protected]).
Take care, and please share this email with new families in WRA who may be interested in registering swimmers.
