Dolphins Midweek Update

Greetings Dolphin families! We’re delayed this week on the update due to Relay Carnival. We’ll have meet sheets for Saturday’s 9 a.m. home A Meet with Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet later this evening for A Meet swimmers.

1) Reminders: Can-struction pep rally TODAY @6 p.m. 

It’s a pep rally, it’s a food drive, it’s art! It’s also a competition! Remember canned goods, and other non-perishables to donate to United Community for today’s pep rally. Our teams will use them as building materials. May the most creative and charitable team win! And, as is tradition, there will be cheers and the announcement of the week’s practice monsters … don't miss it! 

2) Results: Relay Carnival, Highland Park 

NVSL posted results from Division 7 Relay Carnival Thursday night. You may read them in full here. 

The following Dolphin Relay Teams stood out by winning first or second place at Division 7 Relay Carnival: 

• Boys 13-14 200m Medley Relay: 2:10.89 (2nd place) 
  Luke Morris, Connor Minear, Beau Gibson, Mason LoCascio 
• Boys 15-18 200m Medley Relay: 1:52.37 (1st place, 12th in NVSL)
  Caleb Wolf, Moses Wolf, Joshua Wolf, Marshall LoCascio 
• Boys 200m Mixed Age Freestyle Relay: 1:58.95 (2nd place)
  James Gallagher, Alexander Mamienski, Luke Morris, Joshua Wolf 
• Girls 9-10 100m Freestyle Relay: 1:13.31 (2nd place)
  Heidi Evans, Isla Exner, Fiona Mead, Vera Hill 
• Boys 13-14 200m Freestyle Relay: 1:56.96 (2nd place, 20th in NVSL)
  Connor Minear, Mason LoCascio, Beau Gibson, Luke Morris 
• Boys 15-18 200m Freestyle Relay: 1:43.15 (1st place, 15th in NVSL)
  Caleb Wolf, Marshall LoCascio, Moses Wolf, Joshua Wolf 

In addition, both the Boys 15-18 Medley and Freestyle Relay teams earned invites to the NVSL All-Star Relay Carnival next month. Congrats to all the Dolphins who earned the honor to swim at Relay Carnival! 

B Meet vs. Highland Park 

We got through all four strokes and IMs, allowing many Dolphins to earn their yellow four-stroke caps for swimming all events legally at a meet. The team started the meet celebrating the Dolphins legacy of Senior swimmer Emilie Lytle at her final meet with a swim from her and her sister Lucy Lytle (swim pictured at top of newsletter).

• All in the family: Monday’s meet included a new Dolphins record in the Boys 13-14 50m freestyle event. Luke Morris set the new Dolphins Team Record of 25.66, taking the 2018 record board line of 26.13 from his older brother Matthew. We’ll see if this one lasts the summer as Luke likely has numerous opportunities this season to eclipse his own best time.

3) Sign Up! Hayfield Farm B Meet swims and volunteer roles 

All signups are available here. 

We’ve open swimmer and volunteer sign ups for the Home B Meet with Hayfield on Monday (7/1) at 6 p.m.: 

• Strokes will go in a different order: IM, free, back, breast, fly. 
• Swimming an IM counts as one of a swimmer’s two strokes (maximum) allowed for the meet. 
• Note: This might be the last opportunity to swim an IM before selections are made for the IM Invitational meet. 
• For A Meet swimmers, remember if you finish first, second, or third you can’t swim the stroke again at the next B Meet. 
• Deadline to register is Saturday (6/29) at 6 p.m. 
• The 10 & under breast/fly permission list will remain in place all season. 
• Please sign up to volunteer!

4) Second Chance (maybe) for Relay Carnival T-shirts 

Canterbury Woods has informed Division 7 teams that they’re considering a second order of Relay Carnival T-shirts for families that passed on the first opportunity. But they need to meet a minimum quantity for the order. If you’re interested in ordering a shirt, please email our Team Reps so that they may let the Canterbury Woods know the level of interest in another order. In the previous order, the cost of shirts was $20.
