Dolphins Swim Team 2025 Winter Update

    2025 Dolphins Winter Update

    Greetings Dolphins Families!

This is James Connally and Genna Dahlberg writing from the account normally led by our lead communications volunteer. We hope you had an excellent holiday season. Even though we still have quite a few months until summer swim starts, we wanted to share some important dates for the 2025 swim season. This is our second year as the Waynewood Dolphins (WWD) Team Reps. Our children started as Little Dolphins and 8 & unders (they are now teens!), and we've humbly witnessed them grow as swimmers and athletes -- largely due to the swim team that this community has built. We are excited to volunteer our time to make this a great season for everyone!

    Key Dates

For planning purposes, subject to change:

    • Second half of March: WWD coach applications open
    • Second half of April: WWD summer swim registration open
    • Sunday, May 4: Super Sunday (where you can purchase swimsuits, meet the coaches, and chat with the Team Reps)
    • Tuesday, May 27: First day of after-school (PM) practice
    • Saturday, June 7: Time Trials
    • Monday, June 9: First B Meet
    • Thursday, June 12: First day of both AM and PM practices
    • Friday, June 13: Pasta Potluck Team Dinner @WRA
    • Saturday, June 14: First A Meet
    • Tuesday, June 17 (tentative): First Little Dolphins practice
    • Wednesday, July 2: Division Relay Carnival
    • Monday, July 14: IM Invitational @WRA
    • Saturday, July 19: NVSL Divisional Individual Championships/WWD Banquet

NVSL has limited additional scheduling information about summer 2025 available here.

The team will have more complete information, such as home/away meets, this spring.

    Call for Volunteer Leads

The Dolphins need additional volunteers to step up as lead volunteers, officials, and even as possible Team Reps for summer 2026. Please consider reaching out to us ([email protected]) to learn more about possibly serving. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience where you’ll learn more about swimming, meet your neighbors, and help your kids and their friends in a way that they will never forget!

    Prep for Summer

If your swimmer is looking to boost swim skills and his/her competitiveness before the summer season begins, consider keeping space on your activity schedule this spring for a summer prep program with the Potomac MarlinsNation’s Capital or another local club offering a summer prep program. These programs will give an experienced swimmer a boost, and it's also an opportunity to try out a swimming club without making a full-year commitment. We haven’t seen summer prep programs post just yet but keep your eyes on these club websites and we’ll flag in March if we see new information.

Separately, our Waynewood Dolphins winter swim program is currently at capacity. However, we do maintain a waitlist. To get on it, email our Winter Swim Team Reps ([email protected]). Take care, and please share this email with new families in WRA who may be interested in registering swimmers.
