1) 2024 Swim Team Registration OPEN! 

The deadline for registration to ensure inclusion in the first team T-shirt and cap order is April 30. 

• The 2025 registration cost for swimmers is $185 for the first swimmer, $155 for the second, $135 for the third, and $60 each additional swimmers after three.
• Registration costs cover practice, meet participation, many team spirit events, and a team T-Shirt. 
• The registration cost for the Little Dolphin program (shorter season but more coaching attention) is the same as for the competitive team. 
• In addition Swimtopia, the team’s data management vendor, charges a $3 per swimmer fee and there is a small surcharge for paying online with a credit card (that can be avoided if paying by check). 
• Swimsuits and goggles are a separate cost (Little Dolphins may order a team swimsuit but do not need one). Team caps may be ordered during registration for an additional fee (more below). 

Note: the April 30 priority registration deadline is earlier than past years but necessary to help get our cap and shirt order in time. You can still register for swim team after April 30 but your team T-shirt won’t come in the first order (the only order expected to arrive before the first meets) and you may not be able to order a personalized cap. 

Please read the instructions below before going to the Waynewood Dolphins website to register. In order for your swimmer to participate, you must login and provide: 

• WRA Member or Approved User number (this is a four-digit number, remember these changed in 2022) 
• Insurance Information 
• Approval of WRA Waiver, NVSL Waiver, T-shirt size 
• Personalized swim cap (optional – cost: 2 for $30) 
• All email addresses to send swim team notifications for the 2025 season. 

Note: Names on swim caps and T-Shirts should be a first OR last name limited to a maximum of 10 characters and no punctuation. 

Critical information for registration: 

• Returning families are asked to log on using the same email as last year. Please DO NOT create a new account. If you have forgotten your password or are encountering a problem, please use the forgot password function or email Team Reps. Duplicate accounts cause problems with team data keeping and must be canceled/corrected. 
• When registering swimmers for the first time, please put the name they want to be called in the "first name" section, even if that name is really their middle name or nickname (even though the directions in Swimtopia indicate otherwise). 
• Only swimmers registered with WRA as being from dues paying households of current WRA members and WRA approved users are eligible to participate. Please reach out if you have any questions about this. 
• Checks should be made payable to "Waynewood Recreation Association”.

2) Order Dolphins Spirit Wear

A big THANK YOU to our spirit wear lead volunteer Stephanie Morris. Emblemax is running the store again this year and offering a selection for kids and adults. We have sweatshirts, shorts, PJ pants, t-shirts, performance wear shirts, tanks and much more all in both men’s and women’s cuts, and in 2 different colors. Be sure to click on the color drop down when making your selections. The popular Waynewood swim trucker hat is also back! Last year, families only had this one chance to place an order so think about hot weather and don’t miss out. 

In order to get everything in this year for both the swimmers and parents to enjoy sporting at the meets and throughout the entire season, all orders are due by April 30. This is to get us our swag for early season meets. This is the only time the store will be open this year. So, if you want sweatshirts for the fall/winter, this is the time to order your swag!! 

3) NVSL Rule Changes for 2025 

The Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL), which sets the rules used by the Waynewood Dolphins in meets, made a few notable rule changes for the upcoming season: 

• Swimmers who false start before a race begins will now still be allowed to reset and swim in the heat. The swimmer will still ultimately be disqualified, and the time result will be voided, but this will now happen after the swim heat has finished. This change eliminates the practice of sending away swimmers who dive into the pool before the start. The rule change does not apply to the end-of-season Divisional Championship meet or the Individual All-Star Meet. 
• Coaches now have expanded flexibility to amend substitution submissions before an event is swum in a competitive NVSL meet. 
• The rules now clearly state that the logo of a club or high school team on a swimsuit does not disqualify a swimmer in NVSL meets. This rule change does not change restrictions on swim cap logos.

4) Looking for Sponsors!! 

We love our sponsors!! Having sponsors helps to offset the costs of running the swim team and keep the expenses for each family as low as possible. At every home meet we make sure to let everyone know about how our great sponsors support the team. You don’t even have to own a business! You may work for companies that would be interested in sponsoring the BIGGEST NVSL SWIM TEAM in Northern Virginia!! If your HR has a youth sports sponsorship program, we would love to put them in contact with our Sponsorship Coordinator. Please email Team Reps if you can help. 

5) Mansion House Dive Team 

Our friends at Mansion House pool have invited WRA member children to join their NVSL dive team as WRA does not offer this. In addition to registering online, you will need to provide a letter from WRA that says you are a member in good standing. 

• The cost of the summer program is $275 for the first diver but Mansion House has invited Waynewood swimmers to join on a trial basis with no fees until June 13 should your athlete then decide to remain on the team.
