Dolphins update: Deadlines & Super Sunday approaching
April 30 deadlines approaching; Super Sunday is May 4
A big Dolphins welcome to new families who have signed up for the season ahead. On the team website, you’ll find earlier March and April newsletters (look for “view all” by “recent news”). These may be useful if you’re looking for schedules and more information about the upcoming season.
In this message:
- 4/30 deadline for priority registration
- Spirit wear orders due 4/30 too!
- Super Sunday is May 4
- Dolphins team swimsuit purchase opportunity
1) 4/30 deadline for priority registration
We’re a little more than four weeks away from the start of summer practice. So far, over 160 swimmers have registered for the 2025 swim season. The priority registration deadline is 4/30 – this is earlier than previous years.
- What does “priority registration” mean? Team suppliers have advised us to place the team shirt and cap order earlier than past seasons if we want items to arrive before the first meets. The team started registration earlier this year and we suggest families register before 4/30 to be part of our first, initial shirt and cap order. There will be a second order later in the season, but it won’t likely happen until the season registration is complete and this later order won’t arrive in time for first meets.
- The team welcomes and expects further registrations even after the priority registration period. The 4/30 priority deadline is all about trying to get shirts and caps to swimmers before meets begin in June. The team typically continues to add swimmers through the beginning of Little Dolphins season in mid-June so please tell interested neighbors there’s still time to join.
- Here is the link for registration – https://waynewood.swimtopia.com/ (look for the red “Register Now” icon). Please remember that only swimmers registered with WRA as being from dues paying households of current WRA members and WRA approved users are eligible to participate.
- Returning families are asked to log on using the same email as last year. Please do not create a new account. If you have forgotten your password or are encountering a problem, please use the forgot password function or email Team Reps. Duplicate accounts cause problems with team data keeping and must be canceled/corrected. When registering swimmers for the first time, please put the name your swimmer wants to be called in the "first name" section, even if that name is really their middle name or nickname (even though the directions in Swimtopia indicate otherwise).
2) Spirit wear orders due 4/30
https://wwdolphins2025.itemorder.com/shop/home/
In order to get everything in this year for both the swimmers and parents to enjoy sporting at the meets and throughout the entire season, all orders are due by April 30.
- Emblemax is running the store again this year and offering a selection for kids and adults. We have sweatshirts, shorts, PJ pants, t-shirts, performance wear shirts, tanks and much more all in both men’s and women’s cuts, and in 2 different colors. Be sure to click on the color drop down when making your selections.
This is the only time we plan to open the store this year. So, if you want sweatshirts for the fall/winter, this is the time to order your swag!!
3) Super Sunday is May 4
Super Sunday will be on the WRA grounds from 1-3 pm rain or shine. Come and meet our team leadership to ask any questions about the swim team. While registration is online, our swimsuit vendor Sport Fair will be on hand to sell team suits (more details below). This is the best and most convenient time to buy and try on a swimsuit.
4) Dolphins Team Swimsuit
The Dolphins are using the same swimsuit design from last year – so last year’s suit may still work if it is the right size and in good condition. The team typically changes models every two years. This isn’t to make you buy new suits but because manufacturers generally only produce a given design for two years before phasing it out. Our swimsuit design is Disco Boom (royal) made by Speedo. Costs of suits this year offered by vendor Sport Fair for sale at Super Sunday are:
Male Brief -- $32.76
Male Jammer -- $38.61
Female -- $45.24
(6% tax not included)
- Little Dolphins can purchase team suits if they like – sometimes they enjoy looking like the big dolphins – but there isn’t a need for it. And there isn’t a requirement to buy a team swimsuit for anyone. Yes, the team looks awesome together in photos with their uniform suits on but a one-piece, racing-style swimsuit (especially blue or black) will work.
- If you cannot attend Super Sunday, you can purchase suits directly from Sport Fair. Visit or contact them at 5010 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA 22207; 703-524-9500. Tell them you want the Waynewood Dolphins team suit. The suit may also be available from other online vendors.
- The team is not a party to purchases with Sport Fair, including those purchased at Super Sunday. Any returns or exchanges will need to be worked out directly with the vendor.
While having coordinated suits makes the team look sharp at meets and in photos, many (but not all) suits are legal for NVSL meets. Let us know if you have questions about swim suits.
