IM Invitational Results, Final Season Meets and Banquet This Week

Some important updates and help requests given all that’s happening with the busy swim week. The Little Dolphins Mini Meet went great this morning. We’re looking forward to adding some of these youngest swimmers into the larger pod at Dolphin Duel tomorrow and we expect to have a Divisionals list with bid-ins out tomorrow morning.

1) Dolphin Duel and Practice Schedule 

Dolphin Duel is tomorrow evening at 6:00 pm. It looks like stroke sign ups haven’t technically closed, but we’re past the deadline and they may close any minute now. We still have volunteer positions that need to be filled. Sign up here. 

For Little Dolphins: 

• Little Dolphins wanting to swim freestyle don’t need to sign up and should aim to arrive at 5:40 pm. 
• Little Dolphins have no more practices left this summer. 
• If your Little Dolphin is skittish about swimming or didn’t enjoy Mini Meet, we’d suggest waiting a year to swim this event. 

For Big Dolphins: 

• Coach Dylan requests Big Dolphins swimmers arrive at 5:00 pm for a 5:15 warm up. 
• Big Dolphins have morning practice tomorrow (Thursday) but no afternoon practice due to Dolphin Duel. 
• Swimmers signed up for Dolphin Duel who make Divisionals Thursday will be scratched from Dolphins Duel – but come and cheer your teammates. 
• On Friday, Divisional swimmers only have morning practice. 
• There is no afternoon practice Friday (this is a change from Sunday). 

2) IM Invitational Results 

The Dolphins enjoyed a fantastic evening at Fort Hunt IM Invitational at Little Hunting Park on Monday. As a team, Waynewood finished second in our four-team meet division right behind our Little Hunting Park hosts. Six Dolphin swimmers with top 3 finishes across the eight competition categories: 

1st place 

• James Gallagher, Boys 13-14 100m IM (1:08.07) 
• Abby Minear, Girls 13-14 100m IM (1:12.62) 
• Moses Wolf, Boys 15-18 100m IM (59.21) 

2nd place 

• Alexander Mamienski, Boys 11-12 100m IM (1:23.25) 

3rd place 

• Violet Dunstan, Girls 10 & under 100m IM (1:38.31) 
• Sasha Hill, Girls 15-18 100m IM (1:17.50)

3) Dolphin Banquet – volunteers needed! 

We have a lot ahead of us before Saturday night, but we’re nonetheless excited about the 6:00 pm Saturday celebration dinner and awards ceremony taking place on the field behind the pool. 

• Volunteers needed: We’ll need some helping hands Saturday to put on the banquet. Many of these roles are intermittent help so you can absolutely enjoy the banquet while lending a hand and earning a volunteer shift. This is also the last chance to get a shift in before the team evaluates the season’s volunteer contributions. Signup here. 

On Saturday, you may need to walk around the fence to the area on the backside of the pool fence. The party will migrate onto the pool deck after the dinner and award ceremony are over. 

4) Division 7 Championship Update

Going forward, we’ll send most of our updates on the Waynewood hosted, six-team meet (including our first entry list) to swimmers who indicated availability. The Dolphins get two primary entries for each event – those swimmers should already know about their inclusion from talking to Coach Dylan. 

The Division will meet and Waynewood may get some “bid-in” entries for limited extra spots that become available. In recent years these bid-ins have become rarer so we’ll be thankful for any additional swims. Expect our list tomorrow morning.
